How Do You Feel About Guest Books?

I'm getting to that point in wedding planning where the "fluff" is being cut out. It's time to make decisions, and make those decisions happen.

I know this seems like a small decision - and I suppose it is in the grand scheme since the investment is tiny compared to other decisions!

But here is my question...guest book or no guest book?

Traditional or non-traditional?

Please share any and all ideas you might have!

I was going to make a photo guest book online but...well...I just ended up frustrated. So that idea is out. :) No time for frustrating tasks. Hehe.

  1. We had a non-traditional guest book--I made a photo album w/ our engagement pics & had a sign asking the guests to leave their advice & well wishes. It was great because some of them left awesome advice. The book was about $25 to make (mypublisher.com)as well.

I say if you do it, make it something that will meaningful--more than just signatures in a book.

  2. well i am all about non-traditional stuff! i am having a photo guest book {my photographer is putting it together for me thank goodness} but i am only having it at the reception. i dont really care for one at the ceremony. AND we are having a smaller one at the rehearsal dinner - the photo frame where you sign the mat?

    good luck!

  4. I did our guest book via shutterfly and it turned out AMAZING!!! I even cheated! I am starting to lose steam so I didn't feel like putting a ton of effort into it so once I uploaded all my pictures I selected the 'auto-fill' button and it took care of the rest! I think I spent all of an hour on our guest book and couldn't be happier. It probably looks better than if I had actually taken the time to format and select the pictures for every page. Highly recommend shutterfly!!!

The guest book will be for the wedding and we are going to have a white photo mat at the rehearsal dinner for all of our closest friends and family to sign.

  5. I would wait for all your showers to end before going out to buy one. You never know if someone is going to buy you one or you will get one of those photo/sign frames (or an equivelant). I think traditional guest books are no longer necessary because there are so many other ways you will know if guests, however, something you will want to display or utilize is a better use of bridal funds.

  7. Do what you want. I am considering a photobook I think its a nice touch.I also like the blankets that the guest sign and I like the platters as well. I think if you are going to do it let it be something personal for you and FI.

  8. I personally think guest books are old school. I like the idea of photo books. I also love the idea of the old school photo booths that can be set up for weddings. Then the couples put their photo in the book and write a note beside it.

  9. We're also going to do something similar. I'm either going to do a photobook or just do a video corner. I already started buying props for it so it just might be that.

  10. After reading Mrs. Cheese's post about things she wish she had done differently...she said she wished she did more of the littel things..like a photo geust book. That she forgot that everyone had not already seen them. They were not in the "all wedding...all the time" world that we and our close circle are in. SO I decided to go to shutterfly and get a photobook. It was really easy to make. I will put it out at the reception for people to look over during the coctail hour.
