Our First Dance

I don't think I ever blogged about our first dance song. We danced to "If This World Were Mine" by Luther Vandross. It's a duet, which made it so much fun to dance to, as we sang to eachother. Our dance was one of my favorite parts of the day. It is a fairly long song (which I had fretted about), but I didn't mind a bit once we were out there. It was just the two of us, lost in eachother, and the rest of the world disappeared. Wonderful.

And I love this picture, especially because you can see my parents in the background, looking on. So sweet.

What will your first dance song be?

We Have a Pianist!!!

The ceremony music has been stressing me out. I want live music (I hate how it sounds when CDs are cut off when the bride reaches the front of the church), but our church doesn't have good acoustics for a string quartet - plus they are expensive! My fiance doesn't want "traditional" music - he is very picky about music and wants music that describes "us". Now exactly what that is remains to be seen.

I have a friend named Erica who I have known since preschool. She is an amazing pianist and has been playing since at least the time we were in kindergarten. We haven't talked in quite some time - the last time I talked to her, she was heading off to the Peace Corps with her husband. Well, I tracked her down, and she is still playing the piano and is back in Florida!

She agreed to be our pianist - as her gift to us!! Yippee! I'm so excited. This is perfect. It has a personal touch - someone who has known me forever. Plus we can combine what I want (traditional live music) with what my fiance wants (she can play pieces that are more unique to us).

Don't you love when things just work out perfectly?

Until the End of Time

I just LOVE this song. I'm not sure yet where we are going to use it in our wedding (ceremony or reception...maybe even first dance?), but I want to use it somewhere. It is sung by the oh-so-talented Justin Timberlake. You can listen to him sing it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fCYY2PSFkI

Until the End of Time
Woke up this morning
Heard the TV sayin' something
'Bout disaster in the world and
It made me wonder where I'm going
There's so much darkness in the world
But I see beauty left in you girl
And what you give lets makes me know
That I'll be alright

Because if your love was all I had
In this life
Well that would be enough
Until the end of time
So rest your weary heart
And relax your mind
Cause I'm gonna love you girl
Until the end of time

Now if you're ever wondering
About the way I'm feeling
Well baby girl there ain't no question
Just to be around you is a blessing
Sick and tired of trying to save the world
I just want to spend my time with you girl
And what you give me
Lets me know that we'll be alright.

Because if your love was all I had
In this life
Well that would be enough
Until the end of time
So rest your weary heart
And relax your mind
Cause I'm gonna love you girl
Until the end of time

The "Do Not Play" List

Our DJ wants us to start working on lists for the "Must Play" and "Do Not Play" songs. I think the "Must Play" one will be pretty easy...it's the other one that makes me nervous. I mean, what if I forget to write down the "Chicken Dance" and then my cousin goes and requests it? UGH.
I am really looking forward to dancing at our reception. I may not be the greatest dancer, but I sure love to dance! I'm hoping ours will be as fun as my future brother and sister-in-law's wedding. They first had their wedding party out dancing to "Step in the Name of Love"...

And then everyone got out there dancing. And this picture really doesn't even do justice as to just HOW MANY people squeezed onto that tiny dance floor! So fun!

My goal is to have a full dance floor all night long. To make that happen, what songs do you think should be on my "Do Not Play" list? What songs have you heard at weddings that just didn't belong or should be avoided at all cost?
