My Mom's Favorite Moment

As you may recall, a family friend graciously agreed to put together all the flowers for my wedding. I printed off pictures of bouquets I liked, and asked her to work her magic.

When I got home from getting my hair done, the flowers had already arrived. I walked into my room and picked up my bouquet...

I held it in my hands, looked in the mirror, and started to cry.

"It's PERFECT", I told my Mom. And it was.

At that moment, I felt like a bride. I couldn't imagine holding a more beautiful bouquet.
So as I cried, my mom held me. And this moment is her favorite of the day.

Our family friend had perfectly put togther everything I had asked for, and it ended up being much more beautiful than any of the pictures I had given her. My bouquet contained hydrangeas, lisanthius, roses, and of course, gerber daisies.

Absolutely beautiful. And absolutely a moment I will never forget.
When did you have that "I feel like a bride" moment?

Visualizing the Bouquet...

I am having the hardest time visualizing what my bouquet will look like. I originally thought I would want something like this...

Or this...(sorry the picture is so small)

Or this (look - anenomes!)

But the more I look at pictures of weddings, the less I like the bright vibrant bouquets for the bride. I didn't think I wanted an all white bouquet, but then i came across this one:

Oooooooh. So beautiful. And this remains one of my alltime favorite bouquets...

So now (at least at this moment) I am leaning toward a white bouquet, with some greenery thrown in.

Will your bridal bouquet be white? Or are you leaning toward a more colorful bouquet?

Baby's Breath?

Mom's wedding bouquet was made up of red roses and baby's breath. Here she is as a beautiful bride, quite obviously in the 70's. :)

She loves to tell the story about Dad's reaction to hearing that her bouquet would include baby's breath. From the way she tells it, he crinkled his nose, and asked in disbelief, "Baby's breath? Why would you want a flower that smells like a baby's breath? Yuck!" Or something to that effect. :)

I have to admit, I have never been a fan of baby's breath. When I said something about it to my fiance, his reaction was almost identical to Dad's!

But then I saw these pictures yesterday on Weddingbee. My heart skipped a beat. These are beautiful!

What do you think? Are the bouquets made up of baby's breath?

I am really looking forward to seeing more pictures of this wedding! The bouquets look so good with the black dresses! Could this be the cost effective bridesmaid bouquet option I have been looking for, with a throw back tribute to Mom's bouquet?

Anemones!

I will admit - I know little to nothing about flowers. I have always been a fan of daisies, but have failed to ever wander far from my happy little flowers. I always thought I would have daisies in my bridal bouquet, but I just don't think they really go with the more "elegant" theme I am aiming for.
Enter...anemones!

These flowers are completely new to me (and I am certain are much more expensive than my sweet daisies) but I love them! They seem to me to be sort of...elegant daisies! I will definately be considering these when I get to the bouquet planning time...

Have you come across any unusual/new to you flowers in the wedding planning process?
