I bought a hair comb this week on
White Aisle and it came in the mail today. I can't decide how I feel about it. It fit all my requirements - a mix of bling and pearls and is the same size (or a little bigger) than my veil comb.
This is the view I saw online when I ordered it...
But this is the side view they didn't show me. Is it just me or are those pearls sticking up quite a bit?
I have no hairstyling skills, so it was hard to even imagine how this will really look. But here is what we have to work with, folks. I'm wearing my hair in a low bun (I think - my hair trial isn't until next weekend). Something like this:
So let's all use our imagination, shall we?
What do you think? Do you think this will look good? Or should I keep looking?
it looks a bit wide for your head...
ReplyDeleteit looks cute, but i can see what you mean about the pearls sticking up. would you consider wearing it a bit more diagonally like the inspiration photo?
ReplyDeleteYou might like it more were it curved. It's awfully straight across your head although I like it a lot.
ReplyDeletemy 1st honest thought? "ewwww...weird"
ReplyDeleteIt looks so perfect in that 1st pic...I see why you liked it but I also TOTALLY see what you mean about those pearls standing up tall. I think it looks really weird from the side. From a distance...from only the top..it looks awesome...but we are 3D and I think you will end up hating those things sticking up.
That's my honest opinion...hope you don't regret asking ;-) haha
It does look a little bit wide.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your honest opinions! Sadly, I just looked at White Aisle's policies and they allow absolutely NO returns on jewelry - including hairpieces! Grrr. Wish I had seen that before I ordered it!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the others. It's too straight and big for your head, and the pearls stick up too far. It's so disappointing when pictures are not nearly the same as in person!
ReplyDeleteI wanted some sort of a comb. And I couldn't find anything that looked right. Like you, I am having my hair in a low up-do/bun type of thing. I tried on several different headpieces. And ended up getting a headband, and putting it in upside down/backwards so it wraps around my hair on the back of my hair, and not on the front of my head. It works out perfectly. Check out my post on it to see what it looks like...
I wonder if dad could bend the comb to fit your head better...as far as the pearls sticking up I'm not sure you would notice that once the vail was on
ReplyDeleteHi, new to your blog! I agree with what the others said. It's too wide for your head. Perhaps curving it would help with that...just be careful if you try that. I also agree that the pearls look a bit odd sticking up as much as they do. My only suggestion there would be to go buy some pearl beads and use clear nylon thread and "sew" (or glue) them onto the comb. That would allow you to fill out the gaps between the existing pearls giving it a more uniform look.
ReplyDeleteI say keep looking - it's a little too long. But hey, try to sell it on one of the many wedding re-sell websites! :)
ReplyDeleteI personally think it looks good. I like the pearls on it.
