Bridal Portraits?

Thanks for all your sweet words about my whiny post yesterday. :) We will be fine. I know it.

I have been hearing a lot about bridal portraits around the wedding blogs. I never really thought about having them done, but everytime I walk around the campus where I work, I get the idea in my head.

Why? The campus is BEAUTIFUL. It would be the perfect place for bridal portraits! Just look at how beautiful this architecture is.

And that's only a small taste. I feel like I may have missed my window of opportunity for bridal portraits...unless Super Crafty Sister feels like taking them after my make up trial on Saturday. :)

And no, it's not an option to have wedding portraits here - we will be getting married an hour away. Sigh.

Will you (or did you) do bridal portraits? Why or why not?

  1. Not really because I want the Mr. to be there a lot. But it's a great idea and who knows I may do it since we have the photographer for the whole day. He actually suggested that we can take pictures after the reception (about 6 pm) so maybe we can get more couple and bridal portraits then. I'm definitely going to try to take advantage of the architecture at our restaurant too!

  2. you are such a good bride blogger! i love all of your questions, tips and suggestions! my wedding portraits are aug 7th and i couldnt be more excited! i am getting them done bc they are part of my photographer's package for weddings. otherwise im not entirely sure i wouldve gotten them done. we arent getting a bridal portrait printed for the wedding or anything - i am just a HUGE fan of having an entire day dedicated to me and another excuse to wear my dress and prance around! i had a blast with my engagement photos so im sure this will be another memory to add to the journey to the chapel adventure!

if you have yours done by your sister - im sure they will turn out amazing just like everything else she has done for yoU! good luck!

  3. You totally should get as many pictures as you can of you in that dress! :-)
Also...you could always do it after. Think how fun it would be to dress up and take pics a few weeks after the wedding

  5. Let me tell you--the window has NOT passed. I was married EIGHT years ago and decided in the interests of budget that our reception site was so beautiful that I would be happy with those pictures. Well, I was crazy. Who has all kinds of time at the reception to take extra pictures??? My photographer also had a death in the family and left a little early (he did ask me, though, and I was grateful that he showed up at all).

I felt such sadness about not having those beautiful pictures all this time and last month I just decided that I would shove myself back in that dress and take some pictures! They turned out beautiful and it was so much fun! I'm so glad I did it. This is one of the only times in life that you get to only focus on you--go for it!

  6. I say do it! I'm sure your parents would LOVE a framed one of you! Plus, if you plan on doing newspaper wedding announcements, you're going to need a bridal picture. I haven't scheduled mine yet, but I'm thinking of doing mine at my college campus. It's an hour away, but it's gorgeous there! Oh, and plus, your hair/makeup trial will serve an additional purpose!! :)

  7. I agree with other people...you can always do them after the fact. What a beautiful location as well! I wasn't originally going to have them done, but then I ended up changing photographers and she is including a bridal session in the package. They're on Friday in Austin! I'm an Aggie, but it seems more economical to meet my photographer in her town, and I really like the city of Austin.
