Like most women, I have a love/hate relationship with the scale. Usually it just puts me in a bad mood. But I can't seem to part with it.
My husband and I disagree on what time of day is the most accurate read for your weight.
I weigh myself in the morning, right before I take my shower. He says I need to weigh myself later in the day.
The way I see it - the morning numbers usually make me happier, and what does it matter if it is "exact"? I should be able to know how much I have gained or lost since I am weighing myself at the same time every day. And don't forget the fact that a woman's weight fluctuates dramatically throughout the day!
He completely disagrees with my theories.
So I'm turning to you. What time do you weigh yourself and why?

I'm with you - I weigh myself first thing in the AM right before taking a shower (because if you weigh yourself AFTER the shower, your hair is wet and it adds a few ounces!).
ReplyDeleteI'm with you...completely!
ReplyDeleteMorning. I weigh less then! :)
ReplyDeleteThe scale is most accurate in the morning--after using the restroom, before drinking any water or eating any food. It reflects your actual weight, and not the weight of the food and liquids you consume during the day.
ReplyDeleteI think the AM is best because if you do it in the PM, it could be after you ate a TON that day or not a lot... or before or after a poo (LOL). In the AM it's pre-food, and you haven't eaten in hours. I think what's most important though is whenever you weigh yourself, doing it at the same time every day!
ReplyDeleteI refuse to weigh myself. I have heard that your "true weight" is first thing in the morning, after you pee...
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely with you - AM Weigh-ins!
ReplyDeleteA. Marigold nailed it. And, you are right in your assessment that it matters more that you are weighing yourself at the same time each day (before the shower is perfect - you're naked already). :) So glad I found your blog btw.
ReplyDeletehaha is it horrible or fabulous that we don't own a scale nor register for one as a wedding gift?! however, when I did weigh myself obsessively at my parents house it as first thing in the morning. why would anyone want to weigh in the evening after eating all day - no fun!
ReplyDeleteI've been giving this alot of thought. I'm a morning weigher but I'm not sure why. When it's down I eat to celebrate. When it's up I eat out of sorrow. Maybe if I weighed at the end of the day I would eat less all day knowing it is coming and there wouldn't be that much day left to eat from celebration if by chance it was down. The Biggest Loser weighs at night
ReplyDeletei do the morning. always the best number! :)
ReplyDeleteIn the morning of course, AFTER peeing ;) lol It's the truest weight. Nothing in your system - that's what your body really weighs, otherwise you're including the food still processing, etc. That's not YOU, that's the food.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I wake up and go to the bathroom (haha, gotta get as much out of me as possible!)!
