Anxiously Waiting...and a Half-Marathon Update!

My dear sweet photographer has been keeping me updated on the status of our wedding photos. They are almost ready to go! Hopefully we will be able to lay our eyes on the pictures this weekend. I can't wait to show them to you!

In the meantime, here is the update on the half-marathon.

Disney = EXPENSIVE!

The registration fee alone is $120. Not to mention paying for accomodations in Orlando. And I checked the race map - the course doesn't even go through the Magic Kingdom! Grr.

But the weekend before the Princess Half, my hometown will be hosting the Gasparilla Half-Marathon! The registration fee is only $50 and I get to sleep in my own bed! This is sounding like a much better option.

I still have some time to decide, but I would love to be able to actually do this.
In the meantime, I will be running a 5k this weekend - the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. I will be running in memory of Sara, and also in honor of a dear friend who just found out yesterday that she has breast cancer. Thinking of these two amazing women will keep me motivated to finish strong!

  1. I did my first half in my hometown, too. (Okay, first and only, but I do have plans to do another some day!) Good for you for running in the Race for the Cure. Good luck!

  3. Good luck with your runs! Thank you for running for the cause. My hubby's grandmother was diagnosed for the 3rd time in her life with BC. Earlier this week she had to get a mastectomy done. It also looks like his mother may be heading down the same path...

  4. I think for your first race, it's a good idea to be close to home. You're going to be so excited and nervous anyway, it'll be nice to be in your own house, eating your own breakfast, and being in your own element. Make sure to get plenty of sleep and rest the week before (since you might not get any sleep the night before). Feel free to check out my blog for my full marathon training entries and race reports. Best of luck!!

  5. Oh my goodness Callie.....I just got done reading The Sullivan's Blog! I am blown away! Speechless. She was only 2 years older then us...I just can't imagine. Their lives changed in the blink of an eye...as you know I went through something similar with my husbands's passing. Sara passed away on my birthday too : ( That blog really is making me think twice about each day I have with my children. Thank you for linking that!
