No Cake in the Face

This has become my fiance's mantra. I think at least once a day he looks at me, with a very serious look on his face and says, "No cake in the face."

I couldn't agree more. I would much rather have this:

My parents' wedding

Than this:

Alex & Ashley's wedding two weekends ago

Although the picture does make me laugh. She was SO not happy with him at that moment. Or the following moments when she was desperately trying to clean it off her face and out of her eyes.

How do you feel about cake in the face?

  1. Feeding the cake to each other symbolizes the commitment to provide for one other. Smashing the cake is a hideous thing to do in my opinion as it clearly negates the "providing for" symbol and it messes up your make-up and such. I'm not paying good money for a make-up artist, only to have it ruined by childish antics. I'm with Mr. August 15th - no smashing.

  2. I told my future hubby that if he feels the urge to smash cake in the face that it HAS to be below the eyes. Preferably I told him to maybe take a little dollop of cake and put it on my nose if he has to (keyword - has to). He and I are on the same page about staying away from the eyes. When it actually comes down to our wedding day I am guessing that he will either not smash any cake in my face or maybe just take a little bit on his finger and put it on my nose. Either way I can handle it as long as he stays away from the eyes and doesn't make a huge mess.

  3. I'm all about NO cake in the face. I mean I can see a little joke of getting it on the outside of your mouth a little but to smash it in the face (like the picture above) NO!

If my husband did that....it would be the first fight as a married couple lol.

  5. I wonder who the first bride or groom was to smash the cake. I bet someones mother in law was not a happy camper.

If you look at the picture closely I am giving your dad the eye. That eye has helped get my message across many times over the past 30 years. You might want to practice that.

  10. HATE CAKE IN THE FACE. MY FH thinks this is so funny. He did it to me once at my 18th bday party. I became very angry and he never did it again. Helpfully, he won't do it at our wedding. Just discovered your blog! Sounds like you had a beautiful and fun wedding! Congrats!
