If You Could Do It All Over Again...

...what would you do differently?

This question is for my married readers. Or I guess also for those in the wedding planning process who have already learned some lessons the hard way!

Looking back, what would you change? Would you have spent so much money on your flowers?Would you have splurged on a better photographer?

My mom has always said she wouldn't have picked burgundy tuxes with pink ruffled shirts for her groomsmen. :) I need to find a picture of those for you. But you can get the feel of the tuxes from my dad's 70s inspired tux...

Love it. :)

But I digress. Back to the question: If you could do it all over again, what would you do differently?

  1. Oh if I could do it all over again.....I would probably think much more about a beach wedding.

But....A. I would have not used the lady who did my flowers and candle wall. Wrong flowers and candle wall not what we had told her we wanted. (it was still pretty...but not what we wanted)

    B. I would have spent much more money on the reception. Mostly I would have paid to have the hall the night before so I didn't have to leave it in the hands of someone else. That way I could have made sure the tables were where they were suppose to be, would have done the centerpieces on my own, etc. And again...lady doing the flowers....centerpieces wasn't exactly as big as they were suppose to be.

But all in all...Nothing else really mattered b/c the moment the doors opened and I saw Nick standing at the front of the church everything else just didn't seem to matter anymore. I was marrying the love of my life!!!!

  2. I wouldn't have tried to save money by delivering my own cake. Even though it is a funny memory of dad and I trying to get it in and out of his VW van.....Do you have any idea how heavy a wedding cake is?

  3. I would have made sure I did a trial run for my hair...for whatever reason I didn't, probably to save money, and I ended up hating it after it got done and ended up redoing it myself.

  4. Instead of asking both sides of the family "Who do you want to invite to the wedding" and watch our wedding invites get MASSIVELY out of control and completely lopsided...I would have limited each side to a number and they could decide who was most important after we got to invite our friends :) Hostile much? Me...Noooooooooo...

  5. Hmmm... I might not have picked such traditional colors.. or maybe I still would have? I would have waited longer to ask/pick my bridesmaids (long story, I'll blog about it later!). I would have said from the start that I was having a small wedding. Period.

  6. Good question girl! I would have took more time in picking a DJ we liked, that understood our style, though the price was right for the one we had, it wasn't "us". I would have loved to spent more money on a photographer though I was happy with the job our two hobby-ist friends did. Had I not been pregnant (though I wouldn't change that part) I would have gone on a honeymoon even if we had to charge it. I would have picked a dress I loved, not just one that fit. I would have done more of my own planning, and I would have blogged about it ;)

  7. I wouldn't change a thing about the day itself, but I wish I had looked a little longer for a dress.
